Dental Implants

Considering dental implants in Reigate? High-tech yet involving relatively minor surgery, dental implants offer a permanent replacement for missing teeth. Made from titanium, which is well tolerated by the body, dental implants are essentially artificial tooth roots. Fixed into the jaw, they provide a strong foundation onto which crowns, bridges or dentures can be securely attached – the ideal solution for missing teeth. Over time, the jaw bone grows around the surface of the implant, providing secure and stable anchorage – and creating a beautiful smile for life. The most common implants we use at Ringley Park are provided by Straumann.

If you’re thinking about getting dental implants in Surrey, book a consultation at Ringley Park for a frank discussion about everything you need to know. Our implant dentists are very experienced, and members of the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI). For the majority of patients in Reigate, dental implants are the ideal solution for lost teeth or ill-fitting dentures. They look, feel and function just like your natural teeth, enabling you to speak clearly, eat with enjoyment and smile with confidence.

Missing Teeth

The loss of a tooth, for whatever reason, can be a traumatic experience and, when this happens, replacing missing teeth with a natural and aesthetic alternative becomes a high priority.

Dental implants offer a durable, long lasting solution to the problem of missing teeth and offers several advantages over traditional techniques. Dental implants do not require the sacrifice of healthy tooth enamel, as may be the case with a traditional bridge. In addition, implants can preserve and even strengthen bone, a significant advantage when compared with the bone shrinkage that can occur following tooth loss.

What does treatment involve?

An initial examination and consultation can determine whether your case will be suitable for treatment with implants. Once agreed, impressions of your teeth are taken to facilitate treatment planning and ensure a predictable result. In more complex cases, a CT scan and computerised 3D assessment of the jaws may be required.

Dental implants normally require only a single surgical procedure, completed under local anaesthetic or a combination of local anaesthetic and intravenous conscious sedation, given under the supervision of an anaesthetist.

However, it is sometimes necessary to build up the gum and bone to assist in support and security of the replacement tooth and this may necessitate more than one procedure.

Am I a suitable case?

Most patients are able to have dental implant treatment. Suitability largely depends upon the quality and quantity of bone in your jaw, and in extreme cases there may not be enough to anchor the implant.

However, if your jaw bone is only slightly lacking, we may be able to augment it with bone grafting before placing the implant.

To find out whether you’re able to have dental implants, come in for a consultation, where we’ll examine your mouth and assess your suitability.
